On Saturday, October 29, 2022, we had our annual chapter gathering at the Tau Center in Kirkwood, MO. This was also a visitation - fraternal & pastoral- by Jane DeRose-Bamman, OFS, National Minister, and Fr. Chris Shorrock, OFM Conv. Over 30 Secular Franciscans from across the St. Clare Region were present. With the generosity of the Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (www.fsolph.org) we gathered in shared Franciscan spirituality, fellowship, caring, love, respect and joy.
The Regional Executive Council also announced the establishment of the Servant of God Sr. Thea Bowman Emerging Fraternity in Kirkwood, MO and approved its council.
And tying into our new national priorities (2022-2025) of Vocations, Communication, Relationships- we were able to begin again the blessed work of living the Gospel Life lived by our Seraphic Father. "Let us begin again, for up to now we have done little or nothing.", St. Francis of Assisi. Our call to listen, discern and go forth - always moving upward, ahead to what we can still accomplish together was prevalent.
As Secular Franciscans, we are called to the continual renewal of rebuilding the church within our own parishes, our own communities, and our own families. Our way of life must be visible, palatable to all who meet us. Franciscans especially focus on these three charisms - The Incarnation of Christ; the suffering and crucifixion of Christ; and the real presence of Christ in the Holy Eucharist.
